Personal Statement
Taught preschool to high school deaf children for several years. Worked with hearing parents of deaf children in their homes giving them guidance and support and teaching them about Deaf culture and ASL. Has taught ASL, Deaf Culture and ASL/Deaf literature here at UNCG since 2007. As a faculty member, my goal is to share my knowledge and experiences as a culturally Deaf individual with my students so that they will gain an appreciation and understanding of the values, behavior norms and expectations of the Deaf community and its language.
