Personal Statement
Nodia Mena teaches basic and intermediate Spanish. She also teaches about the Garifuna Culture and Afro-Latinos in general. Nodia is from Honduras, Central America, and she is Garifuna, an Afro-Indigenous descendant.
Nodia recently participated in a Tedx, sponsored by UNCG, where she shared her experience of finding joy when connecting with her Garifuna culture. Nodia also shared her passion for teaching and learning about other cultures. She strongly believes that learning basic elements of other cultures develops into mutual understanding and acceptance.
