5th Annual Greensboro Japanese Speech Contest (2021 Virtual Edition)

This spring, UNCG’s Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures was proud to host the first virtual version of the Greensboro Japanese Speech Contest! Japanese language students at UNCG, Wake Forest University and Guilford College submitted their original video presentations which were then posted on the new contest website and judged by a panel of five led by Ayako Yasuda of the Japanese Consulate-General in Atlanta.

The contest entries this year included a split-screen skit, a stop-action film, and a mini horror movie, and featured original songs and poems, dancing, manga and anime visuals, and a VR avatar. All are still available for viewing on the GJSC website so go to https://gjsc.gator.site to check them out and – if you plan to be enrolled in a Japanese class next year – start planning your own entry for the 6th Annual GJSC!
