Dr. Claudia Cabello Hutt was selected to receive a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Stipend Award in summer 2019. This award supports two months of research for her new book project, Queer Networks: Latin American and Spanish Writers, Artists and Patrons in the First Half of the XXth Century. As Claudia describes it, this project “maps a network of queer Latin American and Spanish women artists, writers, and patrons who lived away from their countries, traveled, and challenged heterosexual norms of family, sexuality, reproduction, and economic dependency.” Ultimately, her efforts will yield a book in English and an open digital humanities network featuring a variety of unpublished maps and other archival documents. It is also worthy to note that only 11% of the applications submitted for this prestigious national award emerge successful from the rigorous, 3-stage review that comprises the selection process.
